This report presents the highlights from the results of the 2002 Revision of the official world population estimates and projections prepared by the Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat. The 2002 Revision is the eighteenth round of global demographic estimates and projections undertaken by the Population Division since 1950.These official UN estimates (1950-2000) and projections (2000-2050) are for every country in the world, including estimates and projections of 28 demographic indicators, including birth rates, deaths rates, infant mortality rates and life expectancy.The full results of the 2002 Revision are presented in a series of three volumes.
