In his first two seasons as Nebraska?s head coach, Sanderford led the Huskers to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and back-to-back 20 wins seasons. With a 21-12 overall record and 8-8 mark in regular-season league play, Sanderford led the Huskers to a No. 11 seed in the NCAA Tournament.The Huskers owned three wins over top-25 teams and five wins over teams that advanced to the 1999 NCAA Tournament. Sanderford helped the Huskers break the school and Big 12 Conference single-game attendance mark, drawing 13,135 fans for Nebraska?s 68-67 win over Iowa State on Feb. 7, 1999. Overall during Sanderford?s tenure at Nebraska, the Huskers have drawn four crowds of more than 10,000 and 11 crowds of more than 3,000 fans, including six consecutive crowds of more than 4,000 at the Devaney Center. In his first two seasons at Nebraska, Sanderford posted an impressive 28-2 mark in front of the devoted fans at the Devaney Center, including a 27-game winning streak that ranked as the second-longest in school history before it was snapped by Baylor on Feb. 10.
