Who is Black?

My aim is to write a book that is objective, that is based on what we know about race relations and that points up the problems and policy issues related to defining who is black. Using cross-cultural comparisons, I discuss seven different ways societies have defined the status of racially mixed people. This book has many implications for conflict theories, as well as for phenomenological, symbolic interactionist, structural, or other interpretations, but I chose to set these formal theoretical tasks aside and highlight the significance of the definition of who is black.Davis, F.
