Whiskey Row

During the crash of the thirties in North Texas most everyone lost something. But some lost more than others, as in the case of Bill O'Brien. When his wife left him for the son of the wealthiest family in town, Bill has two choices, stay in McKinney or make his way west to the small town of Santa Maria, California where his childhood friend lives. But there is a problem: Who would care for Jody, his rambunctious four-year-old daughter? Before Bill finds himself making his way west to California with ten bucks in his pocket & Jody in tow. Hopping from freight train to freight train & enduring one hardship after the next, Bill & Jody finally arrive in the isolated Central California Coast town of Santa Maria. Bill discovers quickly that the only way to survive in this joint is to work in the vast agricultural fields picking vegetables with the rest of the migrant workers, or better still; try his hand in the various poker & gambling dives on the east side of town known as Whiskey Row.
