I was born November 18, 1962, the second of four children, to Dean and Ruth Waite of Adams, Wisconsin. My family moved to Sun Prairie, Wisconsin when my father became district signal foreman with the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad in nearby Madison, Wisconsin. When I was twelve years old our car was struck by a semi-truck which went through a stop sign. I was seriously injured and spent four days in intensive care in a local hospital. I was left with scar tissue on my brain which caused me to have siezures.During my childhood, I never felt accepted and turned to the wrong kinds of friends as a result. This eventually led to my commiting a crime with a friend. I was sentenced to forty-four years because of numerous charges against me. I have served eight years and will be eligible in three years. I had been raising my son as a single father for over eight years. When I was arrested I had to call my son and tell him I would not be home. While being incarcerated, I have returned to my faith in God and want to help others to find him too. That is why I have written these poems and inspired talks I gave at our church services. As I sought God, He gave me these words. They have moved other inmates to tears at times. This collection follows my ups and downs during my time in prison.Waite, Kevin is the author of 'Walk Thru the Valley - Kevin Waite - Paperback' with ISBN 9781591096115 and ISBN 1591096111.
