SUMMARY

The VisionLab and pcStereoscope package -- unique software and hardware products -- present sophisticated perceptual demonstrations, many in stereoscopic three dimension. The hardware consists of a special driver board to be installed inside the PC, one or more pairs of liquid-crystal shutter glasses that plug into the board, and a special connector that is placed between the graphics board and the monitor. The board runs the shutter glasses and synchronizes them with the monitor. Presenting sophisticated perceptual demonstrations, the software is a single, large program which has been designed for easy use. A manual, which accompanies the software, has three main sections -- a general guide, a guide to various demonstrations, and a guide to experiments -- followed by an appendix and bibliography. The demonstrations and experiments can be run by an operator with no previous computer experience, and on-line help files designed to supplement the menus where necessary provide abbreviated portions of the manual. The VisionLab package includes: * over 30 experiments and demonstrations * laboratory manual/user's manual * single user license. Designed for courses in introductory, experimental, and physiological psychology, and sensation/perception, this package is unrivaled in its comprehensiveness, flexibility, and effectiveness in teaching the fundamentals of visual processes and research methodology. Achieving the stereoscope effect through electronic shutter glasses, the system surpasses old equipment by functioning as a tachistoscope, haploscope, and memory drum. The user can select from a variety of psychophysical and statistical methods to conduct experiments and collect and analyze data.Swift, Dan is the author of 'Visionlab', published 1992 under ISBN 9781563211140 and ISBN 1563211149.
