Blount is professor of anthropology at the University of Georgia. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and has written widely on the subject of environmental anthropology and ethnoecology, with a particular focus on coastal fishing communities Douglas J. Caldwell is the manager for the trade and environment program at the international affairs office of the National Wildlife Foundation in Washington, D.C. The office's role is to educate, mobilize, and advocate to preserve and strengthen protection for wildlife and wild places J. Baird Callicott is professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion Studies at the University of North Texas, Denton Doug Daigle, an environmental advocate and educator, has an M.A. in environmental ethics from Colorado State University. He directed the global environmental education program for the Pacific Environment and Resources Center in California and served as program director for the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana Dorinda G. Dallmeyer is the associate director of the Dean Rusk Center -- International, Comparative, and Graduate Legal Studies at the University of Georgia. Before earning a J.D. degree at the University of Georgia, she conducted research in tropical marine biology and ecology. He has served as a principal research scientist in fisheries for the government of Australia and currently is a consultant to international environmental organizations, particularly those focused on conserving marine habitats in the Pacific Stephen R. Kellert is professor at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies Karen Mumford received her doctorate in conservation biology from the University of Minnesota. She has written articles on normative concepts in conservation biology as well as on ecological sustainability as a conservation concept Karl F. Nordstrom is professor of marine and coastal sciences at Rutgers University. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Coastal Research Bryan G. Norton is professor of philosophy at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His books include Why Preserve Natural Variety? (1987) and Toward Unity among Environmentalists (1991). He also has written on place-based approaches to environmental values. Barbara E. Ornitz has been a marine naturalist and trial lawyer for twenty-five years. She is an officer and director of an environmental institute for the protection of wetlands Mark Sagoff is senior research scholar at the Institute for Philosophy and Public Policy at the University of Maryland, where he served as director from 1989 to 1996 Michael B. Shilin serves on the faculty of the State Technical University, St. Petersburg, Russia. In addition to teaching coastal marine sciences, he is deeply involved in developing environmental education programs for schoolchildren and the public Kenneth R. Tenore is laboratory director and professor at the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory, University of Maryland. In addition to his research in coastal oceanography, bioenergetics of detritus-based food chains, and benthic ecology, he teaches philosophy and ethics of science David A. He has served as senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council and as attorney-adviser for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs in the Office of the Legal Adviser of the U.S. Department of State Clark Wolf is associate professor of philosophy at the University of Georgia.
