Developing countries are caught in a dilemma in their relations with transnational corporations (TNC's). One the one hand, these countries need to cooporate with TNC's in order to obtain capital, technology and access to global distribution; on the other, it is common knowledge that the activities of the TNCs often inflict excessively high costs on less developed host countries while also distorting their economics.
