Pollutant release & transfer register registers (PRTRs) provide information on the amounts & types of chemicals being released into the air, land & water & transferred offsite from industrial facilities in N. Am. This report is the 3rd of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation's (CEC) annual studies of pollutant release & transfer programs & comparison of their data. It analyzes 1996 publicly available data from the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) in the U.S. & the Nat. Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) in Canada, compares 1995 & 1996 data & provides updates from the developing Registro de Emisiones y Transferencia de Contaminantes (RETC) in Mexico.
