Since making her first quilt in 1978, Elizabeth Hamby Carlson has made more quilts than she can count and always has at least a dozen more in the planning stages. She began teaching quiltmaking in 1983 and especially enjoys sharing her methods for hand applique, machine piecing, and miniature quiltmaking. Through her pattern business, Elizabeth Quilts, she markets original quilt patterns reflecting her interest in the decorative arts and quilting traditions of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Strawberry Fair is her fourth book for Martingale and Company. Her award-winning quilts have been featured in numerous quilt publications, and she has appeared on HGTV's Simply Quilts. In addition to her traditional quilts, Elizabeth, a lifelong Anglophile, also designs and makes quilts inspired by her interest in English history. Raised in northeastern Ohio, Elizabeth lives with her husband in Montgomery Village, Maryland. She has a grown son and daughter, both of whom have lots of quilts.
