The golden, or Syrian, hamster is a popular animal model for neuroscience research. Hamsters are employed in key areas of study, including reproductive endocrinology and behavior, development and regeneration of the visual system, and circadian rhythm regulation. This is the first atlas to present the complete hamster brain in three-dimensional coordinates for stereotaxic surgery, with diagrammatic representations of each coronal section.
