Neil J. Salkind (Ph.D., University of Maryland, 1973) is a Professor of Psychology and Research in Education at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. He completed post-doctoral training as a member of the Bush Child and Family Policy Institute at the University of North Carolina in 1980 and has authored and co-authored more than 100 scholarly papers and books. He is author most recently of Theories of Human Development (2003) and Statistics for People Who (Think They) Hate Statistics, Second Edition (2003), both published by SAGE Publications. He was the editor of Child Development Abstracts and Bibliography , published by the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) from 1988 through 2001 and continues to be active in that organization as a member of various committees.
