SUMMARY

Alan Acock (Ph.D., Washington State University) is Professor and Chair of Human Development and Family Sciences at Oregon State University. He has also taught at Louisiana State University, Virginia Tech, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Southern California. His research interests include intergenerational relationships, family structure and well-being, and methodology. He is on the editorial boards of Marriage and Family Review and the Journal of Structural Equation Modeling and has served as an associate editor and/or editorial board member on many other journals (Family and Economic Issues, Social Forces, Journal of Marriage and Family, Sociological Inquiry, etc.) He has served as Chair of the Theory Construction and Research Methods section of the National Council on Family Relations (the section that is sponsoring this Handbook project) and the NCFR Fellows Selection Committee (1997-2000) and has served on review panels for the National Science Foundation and NIH. He has published nearly 100 refereed articles and co-authored (with David Demo) the Sage book Family Diversity and Well-Being, which received the 1995 Choice Award for Outstanding Academic Book.Acock, Alan C. is the author of 'Sourcebook of Family Theory and Research', published 2004 under ISBN 9780761930655 and ISBN 0761930655.
