Readings in the Economic History of the United States

This is volume two of a two-volume set. Originally published in 1916, this two-volume collection of documents and essays spans from 1583 to 1915. It provides a unique reference source for original materials that are nearly impossible to find independently. As the editors said at the time of original publication: "The purpose of this book is to supplement the more systematic text book and lectures of a college course on the economic history of the United States. This material has been drawn from contemporary sources; in the later periods official documents have been used. Where controversial matters have been treated, every effort has been made to present both sides fairly.
