Kathleen Rushford Murray grew up in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and was a student at Sacred Heart, where she studied with Sr. Edmund. She continued her study of music, earned a doctorate in music education and taught at the University of California at Los Angeles. After leaving UCLA and staying home with her two children, Hannah and Paul, she returned to school as a student and earned a second doctorate in theology, with a specialty in French Canadian religious art.
