SUMMARY

Pop Flies and Butterflies is a humorous tale about the frustrating experiences of college baseball coach Ben Truman. He is coerced into managing a Little League team composed of eight-and nine-year-olds. The book represents a three-month period, when normally pleasant adults are transformed into ranting, irrational Little League parents. A neighborhood tragedy is about to occur—if no babysitter is found for this carefree band of small folk, the team will have to disband. Well-meaning neighbors draft Ben for the job, in spite of his protestations. After all, Ben’s eight-year-old, Jerry, wants to play too! Some weird events find Ben co-managing the Angels with Jerry’s beautiful third grade teacher, Samantha Marcata. An initially hostile relationship blossoms into a comfortable truce. Ben’s college team wins the conference championship; however, the Angels post a 0-14 record. The neighbors, who originally championed Ben as manager, are ready to lynch, or at least fire him.Freeman, Serge is the author of 'Pop Flies and Butterflies', published 2007 under ISBN 9781424135585 and ISBN 1424135583.
