Plastics Materials and Processing

After earning a Ph.D. in physical chemistry, Brent Strong worked for the plastics department and later the textile fibers department of the DuPont Company. At DuPont he worked on the development of new plastic products and in plastic products manufacturing. In 1978 he joined a company (now called Hardie Irrigation) that manufactured plastic irrigation products sold worldwide. In 1986 Dr. Strong joined Brigham Young University where he is now Professor and former chair of Manufacturing in the School of Technology. He is also director of the Advanced Composite Manufacturing and Engineering Center where he provides assistance to companies in the plastics and composites industries. Dr. Strong is the author of five books about plastics and composite materials and has served as International President of the Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (SAMPE).Strong, A.
