Yogi Ramacharaka (1862-1932) is believed to be the pen-name for William Walker Atkinson who was born in Baltimore MD. From 1903 he began to write books on yoga philosophy using the pseudonym ÔYogi Ramacharaka'. He became influential in turn-of-the-century spiritual/philosophical movements such as ÔNew Thought' (a precursor to present-day New Age movement) & Theosophy. He helped to popularize Eastern concepts in Amer. with Yoga, broadly-interpreted Hinduism being the specific area of this focus.
