SUMMARY

Liz Ball is a horticultural writer, photographer, researcher, and teacher whose articles and photographs have appeared in numerous books, magazines, and catalogs. Ball has written for the National Garden Bureau and Burpee's website. Her weekly "Yardening" column has appeared in her local newspaper for more than 12 years. In addition to this book for Cool Springs Press, Ball has authored or coauthored 10 books on plant care and landscape gardening. These include The Philadelphia Garden Book: A Gardener's Guide to the Delaware Valley (Cool Springs Press, 1999), My Pennsylvania Garden: A Gardener's Journal (Cool Springs Press, 2000), and Month-by-Month Gardening in Pennsylvania (Cool Springs Press, 2000), as well as Step by Step Yard Care and Step by Step Garden Basics (Better Homes and Gardens, Meredith, 1999). A long-time gardener herself, Ball specializes in addressing the issues that concern non-gardening homeowners who have lawns and plants to care for, but who have limited time. Ball's career includes teaching courses on gardening at community forums and teaching classes at arboretum programs. Ball has also taught garden writing at Temple University and Longwood Gardens. She speaks frequently to gardening clubs, horticultural societies, civic groups, as well as at nationally recognized events such as the Philadelphia Flower Show. She is a national director of the Garden Writers Association of America, and also is a member of the Hardy Plant Society Mid-Atlantic Region and the Rock Garden Society. In addition to writing, Ball manages her own stock photography business and licenses images to book and magazine publishers. In fact, many of her photos are in this book for Cool Springs Press. Ball recently moved to a new home in Springfield, Pennsylvania where she is currently at work establishing plants in a floodplain, designing and planting garden beds, and coping with deer.Ball, Liz is the author of 'Pennsylvania Gardener's Guide' with ISBN 9781930604797 and ISBN 1930604793.
