When Fanny Hensel, sister of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, and her family returned from their journey to Italy in 1839/40 she and her husband compiled a kind of album. Fanny wrote down her compositions on colored paper, her husband drew vignettes that document the place where the piece of music had been composed.
