Norfolk's Waters Hampton Roads

The late William L. Tazewell, a native of Norfolk and a descendant of a Virginia governor and senator, was both a writer and a teacher of writing. His BA and MA degrees were from the University of Virginia, with further graduate study in English and history as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow, at Ohio State, Indiana and Harvard Universities, and at the University of North Carolina as a Mark Ethridge Fellow. In 1959, Mr. Tazewell joined the Norfolk Virginian-Pilot as a reporter and later served as associate editor. Hampton Roads lost a cherished author when Mr. Tazwell passed away Guy Friddell, a newspaperman of 57 years, has been writing columns for the Virginian Pilot in Norfolk for 37 years.
