Ilisha S. Newhouse was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in southern California. In 1992, she began to call Arizona home and plans to retire here in the valley. Her education consists of a Licensed Vocational Nurse degree from Brooklyn College at Magna Institute, an Associate of Arts degree in administrative justice from Golden West College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Arizona State University, a Master of Arts degree in organizational management from University of Phoenix, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in theocentric business and ethics from the American College of Theological Studies. Previously, she worked as an accountant, an assistant controller, and a human resource director. She has owned and operated a small market research agency since 1998 and contracts as a consultant to several large corporations. In late 1999, she began mentoring students, and in January 2000, she began teaching courses at the Chandler Community Center. In 2001, she became a community college certified instructor, and she is currently an adjunct instructor in business, sociology, and physical education for South Mountain Community College. She was recently hired as a professor of business by Ottawa University. She is an ordained minister and enjoys performing wedding ceremonies throughout the Phoenix valley as well as offering assistance at multicultural and religious events. In addition, she is on the board of education for the National Center of Professional Mystery Shoppers and is a main proponent of establishing industry certification. The first edition of Mystery Shopping Made Simple was used as a textbook and by popular demand was released into the mainstream.
