His professional affiliations are with the African Studies Association (New Brunswick, New Jersey), the National Council for Social Studies Consortium (Silver Springs, Maryland), the National Alliance of Black School Educators (Washington DC), and the Benjamin Banneker Association, Inc. (Lansing, Michigan). The academic portfolio of Dr. Penn includes a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Religious Education, Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Ph.D., in Educational Philosophy.
