Jamie Henke, University of Wisconsin, Madison Dr. Jamie Henke is a Faculty Associate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Division of Continuing Studies. She teaches music courses to a broad range of traditional campus and nontraditional distance students. Her students include college students, pre-kindergarten students, and senior citizens. She is the coordinator for independent learning courses in music, and the creator and director of the Blackboard program for online continuing education. She also coordinates a new arts program that combines music, art , theatre, and movement with children's literature. Her teaching abilities have earned her nominations for several prestigious awards, among them the 2002 Chancellor's Hilldale Award for Excellence in Teaching at UW-Madison and The Roseman Excellence in Teaching Award. She has authored distance learning courses music theory, music history, composition, and non-western music, and teaches courses in music theory, music history, composition, and jazz. She is one of the co-founders and current chair of the Macro Analysis Creative Research Organization, dedicated to the improvement of undergraduate education in music theory. She earned her Ph.D. in Music Theory from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1989. She also has a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance.
