Harry N. Mazadoorian is Distinguished Professor of Dispute Resolution Law from Practice at Quinnipiac University School of Law and its Center on Dispute Resolution in Hamden, Connecticut. Previously, he was employed by CIGNA Companies for some twenty-five years and held a number of positions including chief insurance counsel, vice president of government affairs and assistant general counsel managing commercial litigation. He served as CIGNA Legal Division's Coordinator of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) programs. Prior to joining CIGNA, he was in private practice and handled a wide variety of business and consumer matters. He has also served as Corporation Counsel for the city of New Britain and Legislative Commissioner for the State of Connecticut. He was a founding director of the American Corporate Counsel Association. Mr. Mazadoorian is widely recognized as a national ADR authority and has been actively involved in ADR matters for more than twenty years. He has authored numerous articles on ADR and has made many ADR presentations to American Bar Association groups as well as to state and local bar associations. Mr. Mazadoorian also serves as a professional dispute resolution neutral in several capacities handling a wide variety of mediations and arbitrations in commercial and other matters. He was one of the first appointed Connecticut attorney trial referees in 1984. He is a member of the Council of the ABA's Section of Dispute Resolution and was the first chair of the section's Mediation Committee and is current chair of its Corporate ADR Committee. He has served as chair of the planning committee of the Connecticut Bar Foundation's annual Honorable John Speziale ADR Symposium since its inception. Mr. Mazadoorian serves on the editorial boards for the ABA's Dispute Resolution Magazine and the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution's Alternatives. He has received a number of ADR-related awards including Community Mediation Inc.'s Honorable Robert Zampano Award for Excellence in Mediation and the Society for Professionals in Dispute Resolution/Association of Conflict Resolution ADR Pioneer Award.
