Kathy Persinger is a journalist and writer living in Charlotte, North Carolina, who began covering sports while in college in the late 1970s. Since then, she has written about everything from high schools to the major leagues, telling stories about the games and the people who play them. She also has worked as a copy editor in the sports department of major newspapers and magazines. She was coordinating editor of Dale Earnhardt: Rear View Mirror, published in 1998 following the legendary Winston Cup champion's victory in the Daytona 500, which chronicles the late Mr. Earnhardt's career from the beginning. She has three children: two sons who enjoy playing baseball and basketball and a daughter who hopes her gymnastics talent will take her to the sport's highest level.
