Long Island An Illustrated History

Robert B. MacKay is director of the Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities and chairman of the New York State Board for Historic Preservation. Richard F. Welch earned his M.A. in history at Wichita State University and his Ph.D in history at State University of New York-Stony Brook. Dr. Welch is the author of several books. He has published articles in numerous publications including The Atlantic Monthly, American History Illustrated, Journal of Long Island History and Newsday. He is the editor of Long Island Forum Geoffrey L. Rossano, who has published numerous articles on Long Island topics, teaches history at the Salisbury School in Salisbury, Connecticut. He received his Ph.D in American urban history from the University of North Carolina Carol A.
