Ben Maltz is a practising barrister at the Chambers of Richard King, 5 Paper Buildings, Temple, London EC4. He was called to the Bar by Lincoln's Inn in October 1998. He works mainly in the areas of landlord & tenant law, housing law and professional negligence actions. He also has a strong interest in construction litigation, having spent several months in 1997 working for the in-house legal team at Campenon Bernard SGE in Paris, France. As a keen skier, he has spent two winter seasons in the French Alps as a ski guide. His pleasure is to return to the mountains at every opportunity. Victor Vegoda joined athe Peachey Property Corporation in 1960 where he remained for ten years. He practises as a building surveyor with particular intereset in the fields of dilapidations, party walls and contract administration. In 1969, Peachey's agitated chief accountant came to see him. He had been burning the midnight oil trying to reconcile the company's accounts and the error seemed to correspond with Victor's last two pay cheques. Had he banked them? Victor looked in his wallet and realised that he had forgotten to do so. It became apparent that solecisms such as this were not conducive to the advancement of one's career and so he struck out on his own, where he has been ever since. Happily married with three adult sons, his ambition is to recreate the conditions whereby he can again forget to bank cheques.Maltz, Ben is the author of 'Liability of the Negligent Surveyor ', published 2001 under ISBN 9781898383659 and ISBN 1898383650.
