Journeys of a Lifetime

Fifty years ago as a young schoolboy living in a small mining village in North East England, geography used to fascinate me. Dreams were plentiful of those unknown places in the UK, across the water in Europe and much further away in America, Africa, Asia and far-off Australia. At that time the world to me seemed a vast place that would remain largely unseen. However, the second half of the 20th century saw the advent of air travel and of package holidays that together heralded the massive growth of international leisure travel. Journeys of a Lifetime reflect those developments.
