Issues in Business Taxation

The contributors to this edited work examine three themes in business taxation: domestic finance and investment, international issues from a UK perspective and European taxation. An analysis is provided of the effects of the UK tax system on capital investment, corporate financial policy and leasing. A mathematical programming model is presented, which encapsulates the effects of tax distortions in capital project appraisal. A framework is established for companies considering overseas operations in low tax areas for the first time and an empirical study is made of the effects of taxation on the capital budgeting decisions and financing choices of multinational companies. The alternative tax systems in the European Community are reviewed and an examination is made of the distortionary effects on corporate investment and finance across member states.
