Bill Coleman was fifty years old, and a moderately successful portrait photographer when his life took a considerable change in direction. Driving on a country road one day in rural Pennsylvania, he was about to pass an Amish buggy slowly moving in front of him when he noticed that its rear wheel was about to fall off. He was able to stop the driver and help him right the wheel. As a result of this chance meeting, a growing friendship developed between Coleman and these Old Order Amish that has lasted for decades.
