This is the story of a German immigrant, Karl Gustav Ewoldt, who at the turn of the twentieth century, like so many of his fellow countrymen, left Europe for a better life in the United States of America. From Kiel to Kossuth follows the journey from his birth in the small northern village of Wisch, Germany, in Schleswig-Holstein, to his trip across the sea to his success as an Iowa farmer.
