Families Around the World

This unit is about what constitutes a family, what families do together, and how families throughout the world are alike and how they are different. Study ideas and reproducible pages of pictures help your students compare and contrast many aspects of familiy life around the world -- homes, clothing, food, school, and celebrations. There are follow up activities for books about families, as well as an extensive bibliography of titles for you and our students to explore. Projects involve geography, mathematics, listening skills, language development, cultural diversity, large and small muscle activities, literature and poetry, and art experiences. There are handy patterns for cookie cutter people and paper dolls, with corresponding clothing from various world cultures.
