Ingrid Bacci, Ph.D., C.S.T., CAT, is a complementary health care practitioner, and a consultant to corporations, health maintenance organizations, and hospitals. She is a licensed Alexander Technique teacher and a certified craniosacral therapist. Dr. Bacci teaches seminars on chronic pain management and stress reduction for the HMO Oxford Health Plans, offers training programs in craniosacral therapy on a national level through the Up-ledger Institute, and is an occasional guest lecturer at the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Bacci specializes in teaching clients how to use self-awareness techniques to overcome chronic pain and stress. Her expertise grew out of her own experiences recovering from a crippling musculoskeletal condition (fibromyalgia) that kept her bedridden for three years. A graduate of Harvard and Columbia universities and a young professor at the time, she left her career to explore complementary healing modalities after prolonged medication and hospital care failed to improve her situation. As a result of her complete recovery, her extensive training in various forms of bodywork, and her work with clients over twenty years, Dr. Bacci has developed a system of body-centered tools for helping individuals achieve freedom from pain and enhanced vitality. Aspects of this system are mapped out in her first book, The Art of Effortless Living (Perigee, June 2002), which received high acclaim from recognized authors in the fields of the health and healing. Dr. Bacci's private practice also incorporates extensive use of the Alexander Technique and other movement awareness techniques, of breathing techniques, and of craniosacral therapy, a soft-touch, scientifically based hands-on therapy that can be highly effective in reducing chronic pain.Bacci, Ingrid is the author of 'Effortless Pain Relief A Guide To Self-healing From Chronic Pain', published 2005 under ISBN 9780743260756 and ISBN 0743260759.
