Economic Development in Africa : Debt Sustainability - Oasis or Mirage?

Africa's debt problems and its resource requirements are inextricably linked to the capacity of African countries to generate capital accumulation and growth. This publication explores the continent's debt crisis and the issue of debt sustainability, in the context of the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative and the poverty reduction targets set out in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
