SUMMARY

Examines young people's experiences of crime, disorder and risk-taking at night, and explores ways in which drinking patterns, attitudes to drinking alcohol and the effects of binge drinking were related to these experiences. Provides an evidence base for the development of policies to reduce alcohol-related crime, disorder and violence, and public drunkenness. The research consisted of 16 focus group discussions with young people, conducted across 8 locations in England and Wales. It identified 4 key elements of the social context that are relevant to the relationship between binge drinking and disorder: attitudes and motivations; social and peer group norms; the effects of binge drinking on mood and behavior; and the drinking environment. Key Ôrisk factors' were identified.Engineer, Renuka is the author of 'Drunk And Disorderly A Qualitative Study Of Binge Drinking Among 18-to-24-year-olds In Britain', published 0000 under ISBN 9780756740481 and ISBN 0756740487.
