Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Depression

James H. Kocsis, M.D., is Professor of Psychiatry at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and heads an affective disorders research program at the Payne Whitney Clinic. A member of the Advisory Committees on Mood Disorders for DSM- III-R and DSM-IV, and a member of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology, Dr. Kocsis has conducted research on the biological correlates, psychopathology, and treatment of mood disorders, as well as pioneering studies in the psychopharmacologic treatment of chronic depression. Daniel N. Klein, Ph.D., is Professor of Psychology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He is also Director of the Depression Research Clinic, an outpatient clinic devoted to the treatment of chronic depression. His research interests include the classification, development, familial transmission, course, and treatment of mood and personality disorders.
