Crime and the Native American

Lester (psychology, Richard Stockton State College, NJ) examines the data collected in research on criminal behavior in Native American populations to determine if the beliefs that Native Americans have a high frequency of crime and that they are subject to discrimination by the criminal justice system are accurate. He concludes that when the socioeconomic status and the age structure of Native Americans are taken into consideration they actually have a remarkably low crime rate.
