Chinese Fables

Chinese Fables is a collection of 20 Chinese fables with literary flavor, designed to supplement intermediate-level Chinese language learning curricula with exciting cultural material. Repeated sentence patterns are also used to help the reader become more familiar with Chinese sentence patterns. Following each reading are vocabulary lists, lists of idiomatic expressions, sentence patterns, and exercises based on the material. The collection assumes familiarity with the "One Thousand Most Frequently Used Characters Commonly Used in Newspapers" from the Chinese Language Press Institute, and the appendices contain a listing of the "One Thousand Most Frequently Used Characters" as well as dictionary-style entries for vocabulary that appears in the fables.
