Backlash

The year is 2009. Texas has been an Independent Republic for three years. There is a movement afoot by the liberal party to outlaw all firearms and eliminate private ownership of land. Before the opposition has time to act, the legislation is passed on a voice vote and Congress is adjourned. Jed Grimen, a rancher in Brewster County, decides to fight. The sheriff, a bully appointed by the governor, trying to confiscate Grimens guns and ranch, finds himself getting the short end of the stick. The legislation proves to be so unpopular that the governor is forced to call a special session of Congress to have the law rescinded. The sheriff is ordered to return all confiscated property and drop any and all charges filed concerning this law. He does so with one exception.
