Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry : FY 2002 Profile and Annual Report

The Agency for Toxic Sub. and Disease Registry (ATSDR) is the lead public health agency responsible for implementing the health-related prov¹s. of the Comprehensive Environ. Response, Compensation, and Liab. Act of 1980 (CERCLA, or Superfund). ATSDR¹s goals are: to identify people at health risk because of their exposure to uncontrolled haz. sub. in the environment; to evaluate relationships between haz. sub. in the environment and adverse human health outcomes; and to intervene to eliminate exposure of health concern and reduce or prevent harmful health effects related to releases of haz. substances in the environment.
